Toys are so important in kid's life!

I always heard many parents complaining about their children that they do not play with the toys or play for few minutes only. So today we discuss how we encourage kids to play with toys.

Before reading tips, Please check out this table

Kids attention span:

1 to 2 years: 2-6 minutes

2 to 3 years: 6 to 8 minutes

3 to 4 years: 8 to 12 minutes

4 to 5 years: 12 to 25 minutes

5 to 6 years: 18 to 30 minutes

If your kids play with toys as per this chart, then don’t expect more

Tip No 1: choose age, appropriate toys

Always check age group on the box before buying any toy because if the toy is so simple for child, they distracted easily and if the toy complicated for their age group, so they get irritated and lose their interest from toys, so toy must be as per kid's age group.

Tip No 2: Try to keep toys in organized way

If toys are segregated and placing in attractive way in the toy room or area, then kids definitely show interest to play with them. Don’t Just dump all toys in one box because of this, slowly kids were lost their interest. Our little effort to maintaining toys in organized way, keep them busy for long hours.

Tip No 3: Sit with them, initially, and then slowly they will play independently.

Parents are always complaining that their kids not played with toys, not showing any interest in it that time sit and play with them. They enjoyed their play time with you and with toys, then slowly they will play independently too.

Tip No 4: Always choose activity-based toys

Electronic toys or musical toys may be more colorful and looking attractive at first sight. But if there are no interaction between toys and kids, then kids not enjoy this type of toys for long time. So choose toys /game in such a way that it create something creative like puzzle, brain game, activity kit, memory games, colouring, Play-Doh, pretended toys, so that kids can enjoy this for long hours

Tip No 5: Keep limited, but updated toys

Always keep limited stocks of toys. If there are so many options, kids get confused what to play and distract easily.

Tip No 6: Shuffling and retire the toys timely.

If kids get bored with some toys, you can keep aside them and after some days again, give it to kids they enjoyed it like new one. But after shuffling, still kids not showing any interest with these toys, then it’s time to discard them. Believe me, discarding the old one and updating new toys timely is the main process to keep them engaged in toys for long run.

Tip No 7: don’t disturb them when they play by their own

kids sometime played by their own. They create their fantasy world and play with full of concentration. They talk, imagine, invent new game as well that time don’t disturb them. Don’t even try to correct them. Just enjoy their innocence.

Tip No 8: Limit screen time

To restrict their screen time is the most important step to encourage them to play with toys. Mobile, Tabs are the main attraction due to which they avoid playing with toys and prefer to play with mobile and sit ideal.

Tip No 9: Encourage them to play with pretended type toys.

Pretended play means Doctor set, kitchen set, make-up set, dollhouse, supermarket, etc.

In this, kids can pretend or imagine that character…. Like in kitchen set they cook, clean up or organize kitchen just like their mom. They experience different roles and involved more with toys. Also, it increases their bonding with parents or their sibling or friend, and they play and enjoyed more.

Tip No 10: Encourage them to pick up their toys and keep the play area neat and tidy.

I know always organized their toys and arranging them every day is not an easy task. So always took their help to clean up the play area. This activity build interaction between kids and toys. Make it a daily routine task.
