What are motor skills? Why it is necessary to develop all motor skills in kids at early age?

Coordination between brain and body muscles movement and according to that functioning of body is called motor skills.

Why motor skills are so much important?

Because we need motor skill to perform every day functioning like walking, jumping sitting, writing and so on…. This motor skills start developing from an early age in childhood.

We just need to focus on every milestone of our baby

Today, in this article we discuss all these motor skills and how we help our babies to improve these motor skills so that they will do all their day to day activities easily

Mainly there are two motor skills,

1. Gross motor skills

2. Fine motor skills

Part 1:

Gross motor skills mostly focus on large muscle in the body

if the gross motor skills not develop properly in the child, they find difficulty in running, jumping or throwing or catching anything.

Here I suggest some activities and games which improve gross motor skills

1. Throwing or catching the ball: To play cricket or just throw and catch the ball towards each other is the best activity to improve gross motor skills. This helps kids to understand the speed-distance concept and according to that they trying to balance their body to catch the ball

2. Play ground games: Swing, Slide, Jungle gym these all activities improve gross motor skills in kids like when they sit on the swing first time, they cannot handle their body balance with moving object so they get scared but when they handle their body balance easily they do all stunt on swing happily as slowly they develop Gross motor skill! So I always suggest don’t miss their playground activity time believe me it’s very important!

3. Trampoline Activity: Trampoline is the best activity to improve balancing skills in kids. There are many indoor play station in Pune where trampoline is available.

4. Hopscotch: these days hopscotch is one of the famous game When we were kids, we used to play this game on the ground we draw it on the floor using chalk or stick This game is best to improve gross motor skills as we jump, stand on one leg or use only hand basically we balance our body and coordinate as per instruction

6. Playing with cycle tricycle or any paddle ride on: Cycling or playing with Ride-Ons is the another best way to develop or improve gross motor skills in kids while doing paddling their leg muscle develop strength and slowly they balance their body as per movement of cycle.

7. Playing with balloons and bubbles game: This is very interesting and fun activity to improve gross motor skills always keep ready or handy 2 to 3 balloons in the house at the time of playing with balloons kids jump, crawl, hop, go under the table and what not …. unknowingly they practises all balancing and coordinating activities

8. Obstacle activities: There are many videos on YouTube for such obstacle activity in which we can give them a goal to complete the task like to jump on the pillow, then balance their body on one leg and run, Crawl & go under the table run through given zic zag line and so on…. in such games they can balance their body in all situations.

9. Dancing: Dancing is another best activity to improve gross motor skills in kids. dance with rhythm and coordinate their body with music is the best activity to balance the body

Did you see ‘Taare Zameen Par’ movie? the kid has same type of problem like he cannot catch the ball, not write the letters, confused between two letters and started ignoring every thing …but with the help of proper guidance of teacher he survive in his life… but think if he didn’t get that teacher or his parent doesn’t understand his actual problem what will happen?

So, I think, our small help give our child much much better life!!
