Today we will discuss about fine motor skills

What is fine motor skill?

As we saw in last article gross motor skills mostly focus on large muscle in the body and in same way fine motor skills mostly focusing on small muscles movement of body.

Generally, we use fine motor skills to do school work, art and craft work, office work and any type of creative work.

Why we need to focus on this fine motor skills at early age?

This fine motor skill develop naturally to most of the kids so we don’t think much about it, but if we think about this consciously and help our kids to improve it then they can do their daily tasks like,

-Holding pen, pencil or crayon easily. -Drawing writing neatly and cleanly.

-Dress them by self on their own.

-Use keypad mobile easily.

-Use the ruler, Scissor, other tool by their own.

-tying their shoelaces, brushing teeth, opening and closing zip of their school bags independently

Here I suggest some toys which improve their fine motor skills

1. To improve their holding & Grabbing capacity - Stacking toys

- Shape Sorting toys

- Hammer toys -

-Play Dough

- Mechanix

2. For drawing & writing neatly

- Tracing toys

- Shape understanding toy

- colouring mats.

3. To use keypad, pressing any type of switch buttons, opening& closing door locks

-Some musical toys which has buttons

- Different types of toy guns

4. To use scissor, ruler by their own

- Fruit cutting toy

-Art&craft related toys.

5. Tying their shoelace & Dressing themselves by their own.

-Lacing toys

So, to make them independent means make them confident!!

Basically, to start confident journey of life they need fine motor skills!!
